Step-by-Step Guide to Installing MetaMask Extension

  1. Go to the Official MetaMask Website:

  2. Download the Extension:

    • On the MetaMask homepage, click the "Download" button.

    • You'll be redirected to a page where you can choose your browser. Click on the icon for your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge).

  3. Add to Browser:

    • Click the “Install MetaMask for [Your Browser]” button.

    • You will be taken to the browser’s extension/add-ons store.

    • Click "Add to Chrome" (or the equivalent button for your browser).

    • Confirm the installation by clicking “Add Extension” in the pop-up window.

  4. Open MetaMask:

    • Once installed, you should see the MetaMask icon (a fox face) in the top-right corner of your browser toolbar.

    • Click the MetaMask icon to open the extension.

  5. Set Up Your Wallet:

    • When you open MetaMask for the first time, you’ll be prompted to get started.

    • You have two options: "Import Wallet" (if you already have a MetaMask wallet) or "Create a Wallet" (if you are new to MetaMask).

  6. Create a New Wallet:

    • Click "Create a Wallet".

    • Create a strong password and agree to the terms of use.

    • You will then be given a 12-word secret recovery phrase. Write this down and keep it in a secure place. This phrase is crucial for recovering your wallet if you forget your password or lose access to your device.

    • Confirm your secret recovery phrase by selecting the words in the correct order.

  7. Import an Existing Wallet:

    • Click "Import Wallet".

    • Enter your 12-word secret recovery phrase and set a new password.

Using MetaMask

  • Accessing the Extension:

    • Click the MetaMask icon in your browser toolbar whenever you want to access your wallet.

  • Connecting to Websites and dApps:

    • Visit a website or dApp that supports MetaMask. Click on "Connect Wallet" or a similar button.

    • Select MetaMask as your wallet provider and follow the prompts to connect.

  • Managing Your Wallet:

    • Use the MetaMask interface to manage your Ethereum accounts, send and receive ETH, and interact with dApps.
